Collector Conversation:
Michael Strahan & Marc Lasry

Maybe you collected Matchbox cars, comic books, action figures or baseball cards when you were a kid. Maybe you displayed them in your room or neatly tucked them away in a shoebox under your bed. Whatever the objects of fascination, they brought you joy.

In a New York City office decorated with marvel action figures, framed comic book pages, and a vibrant work of art featuring Superman, WatchBox CEO Justin Reis sat down with Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry and media professional and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan to discuss their foremost collecting motivations.

WatchBox Talks: Aldis Hodge

It’s widely understood that Haute Horology requires singular focus, unshakable determination, and a lifetime of dedication. Yet, being a “multi-hyphenate” isn’t such a novel concept in the world of horology. In fact, being a versatile, business savvy, renaissance man was necessary for some of the earliest watchmakers, who made their living as farmers in the warmer months and turned to horology in the winter.

Aldis Hodge, entrepreneur, actor, designer, and horologist, is a modern-day multi-hyphenate, balancing a wide range of creative and business ventures with remarkable ingenuity. Tim Mosso caught up with Hodge on a recent visit to New York City to talk independent watchmaking, what it’s like wearing a variety of prestigious hats, and the future of the watch industry.

Collecting Together with Shahendra Ohneswere

If you don’t yet know Shahendra Ohneswere, you certainly know his work. As Senior Vice President of Content Development & Co-Head of Digital Marketing at Columbia Records, he’s worked behind the scenes on some of the music industry’s biggest releases. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Ohneswere is both a student and creator of culture, connecting the dots between art and passion.

“I’m fascinated by all aspects of design, technology, and culture. I’m fascinated by how things work together and how they don’t,” he said when asked who he is. “The thing that I really enjoy is permanence and things that outlast me, ideas that last a long time.”

On our recent visit with Ohneswere in Brooklyn, we discussed collecting, his appreciation for timeless design, and the watches that fascinate him.
